That Light / O Işık

Korhan Başaran participated in the 7th Çanakkale Biennial with his 2016 performance video entitled "brok-en". Seyhan Boztepe dreamed of a journey where Korhan's "broken" body is moving on the water. This dream and Korhan's body, wrapped in a purple outfit, went on a journey on Haluk Kaptan's fishing boat. In the video documentation of the improvised performance at Sarıçay, which passes through Çanakkale and meets the sea at the narrowest point of the Dardanelles, the encounter of the body with the sea and light is fed by the tension of the dichotomies such as motion-lessness, balance-lessness, movement-lessness and express lessness. Çanakkale's historical layers and rich geography accompany the performance in the form of a still light.
